On Tee for Charity
Managers and players from a host of football league clubs swapped the pitch for a Shropshire golf course in aid of charity.
The
golf day was organised by two local businesses – Martin-Kaye Solicitors, of
Euston Way, in Telford, and Sportmobile Limited, of Hadley.
Held at the Telford Golf and Country Club, at Great Hay, the event raised almost £300 for the Encore charity, which supports people whose lives have changed as a result of an accident.
Among the 80 players taking part were QPR and Cardiff Managers, John Gregory and Dave Jones, and many former players including Brian Little, Don Goodman and Ray Graydon.
After the golf, a gala dinner was held where prizes were given for the winning round, winning team, longest drive and nearest the pin.
Graham Davies, for Martin-Kaye Solicitors, said: “We were very pleased so many players took part, particularly as the weather wasn’t at its best on the day.
“Hosting an event is always a pleasure when it raises money for a good cause at the same time.”
John Shepherd, of Sportmobile Limited, said: “It was an excellent turnout and everyone relished the challenge of tackling the golf course despite the best efforts of the weather.”
