Companies House ID Verification

From 18th November 2025, new identity verification requirements will come into force under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. You must complete ID verification if you are:

• A director,
• The equivalent of a director – i.e. members, general partners and managing officers
• A director of an overseas company registered in the UK
• A person with significant control (PSC)
• An Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) or
• Someone who files for a company – i.e. a company secretary

Important Timeframes:

• All existing office holders will have a 12-month transition period to complete verification process
• All new appointments from 18th November onwards will need to complete ID verification immediately

This mandatory, one-time process aims to improve register accuracy. Failure to comply within the 12-month transition period may result in fines or prosecution.
